Burn Baby Burn
Seeing this made me think of this...

I, uh, live in the neighborhood where the Mountain Preserve Arsonist lived (the one you might have heard about, about 3 years ago). He ran around torching homes that were built on the fringes of neighborhoods that bumped up against open desert that was part of city or state or fed park land or preserves. Mind you, none of the homes were actually built ON park land, just right next to it.

He claimed to be a group of 4 radical eco-activists (and mountain bikers) but he turned out to be just one unemployed troubled desperate white-collar middle-aged middle-class guy trying to salvage something of his ego. And he actually owned a home that was in a neighborhood (ours) that, uh, bumps right up against a very large tract of desert that's a city park.

Not sure what the point of this story is... maybe that we should start getting tough with those terrible unemployed white-collar middle-class eco-terrorists...

Mamas, Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Radio Talk Show Hosts
Today on KLSD (the San Diego AAR affiliate) I heard allegedly liberal radio host Ed Schultz ranting about these terrible bloggers and how they can smear anyone and how Congress oughta pass a law! requiring everyone who posts to the Internet to identify themselves first.

Jesus. I could have sworn I was listening to Rush Pillbaugh. If I ever locate a transcript, I'll post it.

Hey, Ed... ever heard of 'freedom of speech' or 'liberal blogs' or how Trent Lott only got in trouble over his Strom Thurmond remark due to blogs keeping the story alive when the SCLM was asleep at the switch???

Does Anyone Remember...
...what today is the anniversary of?

It was supposed to be a rather significant event.

You'd think there'd be some stories about it in the media, right?

The New York Times
doesn't remember.

Nor does the Washington Post.

There's a very small item on it at CNN.com. Naturally, the Scott Peterson verdict gets top billing.

Nothing at the LA Times.

... even the very small blurb at CNN.com has been pulled.

Right down the ol' memory hole...
